About Sibona Ilanga Trust Bursary Programme
The Sibona Ilanga Trust is a community trust that owns shares in the De Aar Solar Power plant for the benefit of communities within a 50-kilometre radius of the plant. The Trust aims to provide opportunities for individuals in its communities to achieve their dreams. To support this goal, the Trust is offering out-of-school individuals the chance to pursue further education at South African tertiary education or training institutions. This includes public or private TVET colleges, universities of technology, or academic universities.
Prospective students studying towards NQF level 6 technical, skills training (plumbing, bricklaying, etc.), and training programs, as well as national diploma and degree programs, are encouraged to apply. Those who completed their NSC or NTC in previous years may also apply. The Trust’s bursaries are managed by StudyTrust.
What the Bursary Covers
The bursary covers the following expenses:
- Tertiary institution tuition fees, registration fees and examination fees
- Accommodation in a tertiary residence or equivalent
- Meals
- Learning materials (textbooks, stationary, etc.)
Requirements for the Sibona Ilanga Trust Bursary Programme
To qualify for the bursary programme, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Reside within a 50 km radius of the De Aar Solar Power Plant.
- Have been accepted at any recognized public or private tertiary education or training institution in South Africa.
- Ensure that the application form is fully and accurately completed and includes all required supporting documents. Only applications meeting these criteria will be considered.
