About the PAMSA Bursary

The PAMSA Masters Bursary programme spans two years and is designed to assist exceptionally bright students in completing their Master’s degrees. This initiative aims to foster the growth of highly skilled chemical engineers within the paper sector, thus contributing to the advancement of South Africa’s economy. Successful bursary recipients will engage in research projects pertinent to the paper and pulp industry, including wood fiber beneficiation, recycled fiber utilization, process waste management, and resource optimization.

This bursary programme is open to students pursuing postgraduate qualifications in the field of:

  • Chemical Engineering (Masters)

Requirements for the PAMSA Bursary

To be eligible for the PAMSA Bursary, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen or naturalized South African citizen
  • Must be a final-year BEng/BSc Chemical Engineering student at a recognized South African university OR a BEng/BSc Chemical Engineering graduate
  • Must possess a strong academic record with a minimum average of 60% in the final year of study
  • Must intend to pursue a Masters in Chemical Engineering in 2025
  • Must have completed studies within five years or less
