On that note, I’m happy to announce that the Nedbank bursary programme has officially opened its applications for the 2025 academic year, providing students with a valuable opportunity to secure funding for their studies.

About the Nedbank Bursary Programme

The Nedbank Bursary Programme aims to financially support academically strong and deserving students throughout their tertiary education. Nedbank seeks to address the skills shortage in critical fields such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Green Economy skills, which focus on enhancing social equity, developing strategies to reduce environmental risks, and improving human well-being.

Fields of Study

The bursary programme is open to students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications in the following fields:

  • Science
  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics

Requirements for the Nedbank Bursary Programme

To qualify for the Nedbank bursary programme, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be in matric or have completed matric.
  • Have passed Mathematics (Mathematical Literacy will not be accepted).
  • Have a strong academic record/results.
  • Achieve a minimum average of 65% in the year you are applying for funding (Grade 12 or university level).
  • Have been accepted to study at a South African University/University of Technology for the 2025 academic year (first undergraduate/postgraduate qualification).
  • Be studying or intending to study in one of the listed fields.
  • Achieve a minimum of 65% in the subjects required by the chosen field of study.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

Required Documents

  • Certified copy of applicant’s ID
  • Certified copy of Grade 11 final results (if currently in matric)
  • Certified copy of Grade 12 mid-year results (if currently in matric)
  • If currently studying first year at university, Matric certificate and latest mid-year results
  • If currently in second/third year of study, latest academic record and mid-year results
  • Completed Nedbank Financial Check affidavit (must be signed by applicant and parents/guardians). You can get it here.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit additional documents

How to Apply for the Nedbank Bursary 2025

Applications for the Nedbank Bursary must be submitted online via the Nedbank website. Follow the steps below to start your online application:

  1. Visit the Nedbank website HERE.
  2. Click on the green “Next” tab.
  3. Fill in your personal details.
  4. Fill in next of kin details.
  5. Fill in your education details.
  6. Upload the required documents.
  7. Submit your application.

Note: Only applications submitted through the provided link will be considered.

Closing Date

The closing date for Nedbank Bursary applications for the 2025 academic year is July 31, 2024. Applications will be screened and shortlisted based on the qualifying criteria. Shortlisted applicants will undergo psychometric and other assessments and attend a virtual interview. All applicants will receive feedback once the recruitment process is completed.
