About the Programme
Launched in 2018 by the Amazon Development Centre, the Amazon (Software Development Engineer) Recruitment Bursary aims to support individuals from underprivileged backgrounds in pursuing tertiary education. This comprehensive bursary covers all associated costs and includes a paid summer internship at Amazon. Successful interns will be considered for a full-time position as a Software Development Engineer (SDE).

What the Bursary Covers
The Amazon Recruitment Bursary covers the following expenses:
- Tuition fees

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Amazon Recruitment Bursary, applicants must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be pursuing an undergraduate degree in one of the eligible fields
- Be entering the final year of a three-year degree or the third year of a four-year degree in 2025
- Study at a recognized and registered tertiary institution in South Africa
- Commit to completing an Honours degree in 2026 if studying a three-year programme
- Maintain an average academic performance of 65% or above
- Be motivated to work at Amazon and pursue a career in software development engineering
